Ghana’s national youth swimming team has departed Accra for Luanda, Angola, ahead of the 4th African Youth Games scheduled for December 10–20, 2025.
The delegation includes four swimmers – Kelvin Abdallah, Mercedes Abdallah, Oduma Agyei, and Tamba Akin Boamah – led by head coach Jonathan Amoako-Atta and team leader Charles Mensah.
The continental event will be staged across six host cities – Luanda, Benguela, Lubango, Huambo, Moçâmedes, and Caxito – with the swimming competition set for December 11–16.
In the girls’ division, Oduma Agyei will race in the 50m freestyle, 50m butterfly, and 100m freestyle, while Mercedes Abdallah takes on a packed schedule including the 50m butterfly, 50m freestyle, 50m backstroke, 100m backstroke, and 200m individual medley.
For the boys, Tamba Akin Boamah is lined up for seven events – the 100m breaststroke, 50m butterfly, 100m freestyle, 200m breaststroke, 50m breaststroke, 50m freestyle, and 200m IM.
Kelvin Abdallah will also feature in four events, the 50m freestyle, 50m butterfly, 100m freestyle, and 100m butterfly.

The African Youth Games will welcome young athletes aged 14–17 from across the continent, competing in 33 disciplines, with Ghana looking to make a strong impression in the pool.
