The Savannah regional command of the Ghana Police Service has lauded the sustained efforts by the Overlord of Gonja, Yagbonwura Bii-Kunoto Jewu Soale I and his sub-chiefs for the relative peace prevailing in the region.
The command stated that the King has displayed his fatherly figure role by bringing everyone together to a table of dialogue for peace and harmony.

The Savannah regional police commander, DCOP David Amoako, said this when he led a top official delegation of personnel to the seat of Ndewura Sumaila Jakpa at Damongo, in appreciation of Yagbonwura’s partnering peace initiative in the region.
“The command, on behalf of the IGP, appreciates Yagbonwura’s efforts in maintaining peace in the region and some of the issues he dealt with before they got to us; he makes sure that the issues which are of national security are resolved amicably,” DCOP Amoako stated.

DCOP David Amoako said the police administration equally recognises Yagbonwura’s efforts and the cordial relationship that currently exists between the palace and the police, and “We pray that such a cordial relationship continues.”
He said his outfit deems the period of Ramadan very crucial for the spiritual needs of Muslims; hence, the need for the command to contribute to ensure that the period ends successfully.
The police donated items, including bottled water, bags of rice, cartons of milk, boxes of biscuits and cartons of Milo to the palace.

On his part, Zonzuwura Sanifunu, on behalf of Yagbonwura Bii-Kunuto Jewu Soale I, also appreciated the police for the recognition, adding, “Peace is a necessary component in our very existence, and you know the world over runs on joint efforts for peace. My sub-chiefs and I will continue to do our part while you carry on your good work.”
The command earlier paid a similar visit to the palace of the Damongo chief, Damongowura Seidu Kelly Boresa I, and his elders for their roles in the maintenance of peace.
