The Majority Chief Whip in Parliament, Rockson Dafeamekpor, has promised to donate three months of his salary to help the growth of the Ghana Sports Fund.
The Ghana Sports Fund, passed into existence earlier this year, serves as the dedicated source of funding for the development of sports in Ghana.
The multi-source Sports Development Fund is designed to support athlete welfare, infrastructure development, grassroots sport, and systematic talent identification.
Earlier this month, the National Investment Bank (NIB) made its first donation to the fund, expressing its commitment to the development of sports in the country.
That action has been followed by Dafeamekpor, who has also decided to donate to the fund.
“The Chief Whip has asked me to announce that he is committing three months of his salary [to the Ghana Sports Fund,” Majority Leader Mahama Ayariga said in Parliament on Thursday.

The bill’s passage marks a significant policy move aimed at addressing longstanding funding challenges in the sector, with government hopeful that the fund will provide a more structured and reliable source of support for Ghanaian sports.
