The Assemblies of God, Ghana, has held a high-profile thanksgiving service in honour of Samuel Amadu Basentale, the Comptroller General of the Ghana Immigration Service (GIS).
The event, held at the United Assembly of God in Achimota, served as a spiritual celebration of Mr. Basentale’s elevation to the top post of the security agency.
Delivering the sermon, Rev. Stephen Wengam, General Superintendent of Assemblies of God, Ghana, and Chairman of the Governing Council of the GIS, challenged public officials to move away from traditional power structures and adopt the “servant leadership” model.
Drawing inspiration from the biblical account in John 13, Rev. Wengam noted that the most effective way to transform institutions is for leaders to prioritise the welfare of their subordinates.
He challenged leaders to prioritise the needs of their followers and empower them to achieve their professional dreams.
Rev. Wengam emphasised that such leadership encourages individuals to contribute their maximum quota to the building of the organisation and society at large.
The service featured a significant delegation of officiating ministers, including members of the Assemblies of God Executive Presbytery, District Pastors, and the Chaplain of the Ghana Immigration Service.
The congregation offered special prayers for Mr. Basentale’s tenure, as well as for the directorates and the entire personnel of the Ghana Immigration Service, seeking divine guidance for the institution’s national security mandate.
In an appreciative response, Mr. Samuel Amadu Basentale expressed his gratitude to God for his career progression.
He also extended his thanks to the Assemblies of God, Ghana, for providing the spiritual nurturing and foundation that enabled him to rise to the high position of Comptroller General.
