The National Sports Authority (NSA) has confirmed starting investigations to find out the factors leading to the death of Ghanaian boxer Ernest Akushey.
The boxer, who is also known in the sport as Bahubali, was confirmed dead in the early hours of Tuesday, September 23.
Reports earlier suggested ‘Bahubali’ died from internal bleeding following his fight against Jacob Dickson 11 days earlier at the Bukom Boxing Arena.
However, amid the various reports, the NSA has called for calm while announcing the commencement of an investigation into the matter.
Here is the full statement released by the authority on Thursday, September 25.

Akushey competed in both the super middleweight and light heavyweight divisions.
He has a record of eight professional fights, with six victories to his name.
His sudden passing has once again brought safety concerns in Ghanaian boxing into focus.
