The General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Justin Kodua Frimpong, says the party has put in place key mechanisms to guarantee a free, fair, and transparent presidential primary ahead of its internal elections.
Speaking at a press briefing in Accra, Mr Kodua announced the formation of an Intra-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC) — a platform that brings together the party leadership, the Presidential Elections Committee, and representatives of all presidential aspirants.
The committee, he said, holds regular meetings to address concerns, deliberate on processes, and fine-tune the roadmap toward the primaries.
“In our commitment to ensuring a free, fair, and transparent presidential primary, the party, in collaboration with the Presidential Elections Committee, has established an Intra-Party Advisory Committee,” Mr. Kodua said. “This body meets regularly with all aspirants or their representatives to deliberate on issues and streamline the roadmap toward the primaries.”
He further disclosed that the NPP had successfully conducted a nationwide constituency album verification and validation exercise to authenticate the voter register — known within the party as the album — for each constituency and external branch.
The verification, he explained, was carried out by committees composed of current and former party officers as well as representatives of all presidential aspirants to boost credibility.
“For this exercise, we constituted verification committees that included both past and present party executives and agents of the aspirants to enhance transparency and integrity,” he said.
The initiative, according to party insiders, forms part of ongoing measures to avert disputes that often arise over the credibility of voter albums during internal elections. With heightened public interest in who to lead the party into 2028, NPP says its focus is on maintaining unity and upholding the rule of law throughout the process.
