
MTN Ghana has intensified its cybersecurity awareness and training initiatives among staff to mitigate cybercrime and digital fraud across its network.
The intervention, targeted at the company’s staff across the Northern sector, is to equip the internal working force to better respond to the increasing rate of online fraud.
As digital activities continue to rise, cybercrime has become a major concern in Ghana with many citizens falling victims to online scams.

Recognizing this growing threat, telecommunications provider MTN Ghana has held a series of internal and public campaigns to promote safer internet practices and protect private information from fraudsters.
The company has organized internal cybersecurity training sessions for its employees in the Northern belt, equipping them with the knowledge to identify and respond to cyber threats.
MTN is also collaborating with the Cybersecurity Authority of Ghana to ensure compliance with the National Cybersecurity Act and to extend educational outreach to communities.
Senior Manager for Enterprise Information Security and Governance at MTN Ghana, Jacqueline Hanson-Kotei, emphasized the need for collective action, cautioning users against online favors and juicy baits from fraudsters.

“We are working on special interventions across the length and breadth of the country to educate our customers. Our outreach has reached secondary schools, rural and urban areas alike, to ensure that young people who are often the main targets are aware of the dangers of exposing themselves online. We all need to become ambassadors of cybersecurity in our homes to ensure that everyone stays safe online,” she said.
Senior Manager for Retail Experience, MTN Ghana, Adwoa Afrakomah Baah Obeng, said the awareness campaign will be continuous, as the company commits to strengthening national resilience against cyber threats.
“There are also other activities aside from the awareness campaign. These include hosting meetings with customers, particularly to address issues related to mobile money security and to educate them on the importance of keeping their accounts safe by not disclosing their PINs to anyone. MTN Ghana aims to strengthen national resilience against cyber threats, ensuring that both its workforce and customers can navigate the digital world safely and responsibly,” she said.
