The Government’s Accountability Series engagement with the people will now be held in all the 16 regional capitals and at the district levels, President John Dramani Mahama has announced.
President Mahama made the announcement during a courtesy call on him by a delegation of the Upper East Regional House of Chiefs.
The delegation, which was led by the Chiana Pio, Pe Thomas More Ditundini Adiali Ayagtam III, the President of the Upper East Regional House of Chiefs and Paramount Chief of the Chiana Traditional Area, was at the Presidency to congratulate President Mahama on his victory in the Election 2024.
President Mahama said he would go together with all the ministers to all the 16 regions to hold the Accountability Series.
He said during the period they would call the Regional House of Chiefs and all stakeholders, to seek their input on what they required the government to do for them to draw its attention to it.
He said the Accountability Series, which would be held over a two-day period in each region, also dialogue on the government’s policies for each area and what was being done in these places.
The President explained that the first day would be devoted to going around and inspecting ongoing Government development projects in the region and follow up on the second day with the dialogue, where they would sit together with the Chiefs, to discuss the development of the region.
President Mahama said that the Members of Parliament (MPs) and the district chief executives would also do the same version of the Government Accountability Series in the districts, inspecting projects, engaging Chiefs as well as stakeholders at that level to discuss the development of area.
Pe Ditundini Adiali Ayagitam III, the Paramount Chief of the Chiana Traditional Area and President of the Upper East Regional House of Chiefs, congratulated President Mahama on his decisive victory in the Election 2024.
He also commended the President and his administration for the economic turnaround the nation had witnessed over the past year, which had led to a reduction in the cost of foodstuffs in the region.
He appealed to the President to see to the construction of the Bolgatanga Navrongo Sandema Road, and the Bolgatanga-Bawku-Pulmakom road to open up the area to neighbouring countries.
He also mentioned the construction of the Pawlugu Multi-purpose Dam Project and the revival of the Pawlugu Tomato Factory.
