
The Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources says its Responsible Cooperative Mining and Skills Development Programme (rCOMSDEP) is aimed at making gold mining a communal activity in areas affected by illegal mining.
Speaking on JoyNews’ Newsfile on Saturday, the Ministry’s Public Relations Officer, Paa Kwasi Schandorf, explained that involving local residents directly in the mining process will discourage them from engaging in galamsey.
He stressed that the initiative is designed to create responsible, community-led mining practices that protect livelihoods and the environment.
