The Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Kumasi, has received a GH¢50,000 donation from JP Trustee Limited in support of the upcoming 11th KNUST Summer School.
Presenting the cheque on behalf of the company, Mr Joshua Larbi, Chief Business Officer, said the donation followed a request to support the 2025 Summer School.
“We got approval from management to support the good cause of the University. About 90 per cent of our staff are products of KNUST,” he said. Currently, our National Service personnel are recruited from the University, in addition to what we do to develop young graduates. Presenting this cheque to the Summer School is therefore our way to support the University’s good cause,” Mr Larbi explained.
Receiving the cheque, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor (Mrs.) Rita Akosua Dickson expressed appreciation on behalf of the University to the management of the company for its generosity and continued partnership.
“Inasmuch as you fuel us with petrol and diesel, in reality, what fuels KNUST is partnerships with collaborators and industry partners like JP,” she said. “We cannot do it alone; we ride on the shoulders of dedicated partners like JP, and we are happy that when we called on you to support, you listened.”
Professor Dickson stressed the importance of the Summer School’s focus on Artificial Intelligence in Education.
“Artificial Intelligence and other emerging technologies have come to stay,” she emphasised. “It is in our collective interest to ensure that our staff, students, and partners are adequately armed to leverage their potential for academic excellence and institutional transformation.”
She extended appreciation to the Managing Director and the entire management of JP Trustee Ltd for their continued support to KNUST, expressing hope for sustained collaboration in future initiatives.
