The Insurance Brokers Association of Ghana (IBAG) is stepping up efforts to improve public understanding of insurance through a nationwide awareness campaign.
The initiative, themed “The Insurance Broker -Your Gateway to the Insurance Market,” aims to educate Ghanaians about the vital role brokers play in safeguarding the interests of policyholders.
President of IBAG, Shaibu Ali, says the campaign is part of the association’s broader agenda to bridge the knowledge gap in the insurance space and encourage more people to rely on brokers when purchasing insurance policies.
“Many people still don’t know what insurance brokers do and often assume we work for insurance companies. That’s not true brokers work for clients, ensuring they get the right policy, at the right price, and with the right protection. Our services also come at no additional cost to the insured,” Shaibu Ali explained.
The campaign, which runs throughout October, will include media engagements, stakeholder interactions, and public education drives across major cities and regions.
IBAG believes that improving public awareness will help strengthen trust in the insurance industry and promote better understanding of compulsory insurance policies in Ghana.
Currently, the association has 115 licensed member firms, up from 15 when it was inaugurated in 1988. It continues to serve as the collective voice for brokers, reinsurance brokers, and loss adjusters across the country.
