Abusuapanin Kofi Owusu, head of the extended family of legendary highlife musician Daddy Lumba, says he was told the late musician married Priscilla Ofori, also known as Odo Broni.
During cross-examination in court, he said Odo Broni and some family members told him about the said marriage with the musician born Charles Kwadwo Fosuh.
The alleged marriage between Priscilla Ofori, who has six children with Daddy Lumba, is being contested by Akosua Serwaa Fosuh, who is praying the court to declare her the only surviving wife and also to restrain Priscilla Ofori from identifying as the wife of the late Charles Kwadwo Fosuh.
Serwaa Fosuh’s counsel, William Kusi, during cross-examination on Friday, November 21, 2025, asked Abusuapanin Owusu if he attended the marriage ceremony between Odo Broni and Daddy Lumba in 1991; he answered in the negative.
According to the family head, he met Odo Broni for the first time at the late musician’s residence upon his death in 2025.
Giving more details in court, the Abusuapanin said he got to know Daddy Lumba married Odo Broni customarily in April 2010 at Tantra Hills.
Upon receipt of the news of Lumba’s death, he sent two of his nephews to visit the house of Charles Kwadwo Fosuh for confirmation.
However, Priscilla Ofori declined to talk to him on the phone, at a time when she was crying throughout.
The Abusuapanin told the court it was around this time that he said in some media interviews that he did not know Priscilla Ofori to be Daddy Lumba’s wife.
All this while, he had known Akosua Serwaa as the only wife of the late musician.
Testifying under oath, Abusuapanin Owusu said he exclaimed when Priscila Ofori told him she had six kids with the late musician and that she was customarily married to the late musician. She then introduced to him those who contracted the marriage and those who took the head drink.
According to him, Daddy Lumba’s youngest sister, Faustina Fosuh, who is currently indisposed, confirmed the marriage between his deceased brother and Priscilla Ofori.
As customs demand, he presented Akosua Serwaa with drinks to officially inform her family of the passing of her husband, since she was also a wife.
But Abusuapaning Owusu told the court his attention was later drawn by his own family that Akosua Serwaa had returned her head drinks (tsir nsa) to the family, signalling the dissolution of the marriage.
The case continues at the Kumasi High Court.
