Former Attorney-General and lawyer for former Chief Justice Gertrude Torkonoo, Ayikoi Otoo, has expressed disappointment in former Auditor-General Daniel Domelovo, describing his recent conduct as unbecoming of a professional auditor.
Speaking on Joy FM’s Top Story on Tuesday, October 7, Mr. Otoo said he and his team were “highly disappointed” in Mr. Domelovo’s attitude following his public claims that the former Attorney-General presented fake evidence during the committee hearing on the petitions against the former Chief Justice.
“We are highly disappointed in this gentleman. I don’t expect an officer to behave the way he’s behaving,” Mr. Otoo stated.

He explained that the issue in question involved a letter purportedly written by the Judicial Secretary, which Mr. Domelovo has since claimed was fabricated.
According to Mr. Otoo, the proper procedure would have been for Mr. Domelovo to verify the authenticity of the document directly with the Judicial Secretary’s office rather than making public accusations.
“He went to the Judicial Secretary, and the Secretary said he never wrote that letter. But as an auditor, he knows how to prove that somebody is lying. He should have written formally to the office of the Judicial Secretary to verify it,” Mr. Otoo said. “You don’t come and sit on television making claims and working the timeline to suit your narrative.”
The former Attorney-General further noted that the auditors who reviewed the matter had earlier found no irregularities with the expenditure under scrutiny, and those concerns were not raised again in the management letter, indicating acceptance of the explanations provided.
