Ghana midfielder Benjamin Arhin announced himself on the senior stage with a mature and authoritative performance on his first-team debut for Internacional, featuring in the club’s Campeonato Gaúcho fixture against Novo Hamburgo on January 12, 2026.
Handed his opportunity after months of steady progression, the 19-year-old did not look out of place. Operating with composure beyond his years, Arhin dictated tempo in midfield and played a central role in Internacional’s control of the contest.
His influence was reflected not only in the eye test but also in the data, as he finished the match with a 77 touches and completed 52 of his 64 passes, an accuracy rate of 81 percent.
Notably, he attempted 42 passes in the opposition half, underlining his willingness to play forward and contribute to attacking phases.
Arhin also showcased balance in his game, combining ball retention with defensive responsibility. He won seven of his 11 ground duels, made four tackles, and registered five recoveries, ensuring Internacional remained secure in midfield transitions.
“Very happy for my debut wearing the Internacional jersey. Happy with the win, with being able to help the team, and with feeling the incredible support from the fans up close. Let’s keep going together!” Arhin wrote on Instagram after the match.
His rise has been swift. After joining Internacional from Ghanaian lower-division side Dansoman Wise XI FC in September 2024, Arhin was initially integrated into the U20 setup.
Strong performances across youth matches led to his senior call-up in October 2025, with coaches convinced of his readiness.
