Ghanaians living across the United States will no longer need to travel long distances to Washington, DC, to access essential consular services.
Beginning in October 2025, the Embassy of Ghana in Washington, DC, will revive its Mobile Consular Services, bringing passport renewals, visa applications, and other consular support directly to communities nationwide.
The initiative, announced by Deputy Head of Consular Affairs Mr. Tsatsu Selormey during GhanaFest’25 in Dallas, Texas, is part of the Embassy’s efforts to make services more accessible following a recent restructuring of operations.
“Teams will visit different communities to provide consular support, including passport renewals, visa applications, and other related services,” Mr. Selormey said, adding that the program is designed especially for Ghanaians in cities and states far from Washington, DC.
He stressed that the Embassy does not use middlemen and urged applicants to deal directly with consular officials to ensure efficiency and transparency.
The annual GhanaFest brought together chiefs, ethnic associations, and vendors of Ghanaian goods in a colorful display of music, dance, and cuisine, under the banner of the Council of Ghanaian Associations (COGA-DFW).
According to Mr. Selormey, the Mission is “fully prepared and committed to serving the Ghanaian community and the wider diasporan public to the very best of its ability,” while also encouraging Ghanaians abroad to build stronger community ties and project Ghana as a destination for investment and tourism.
