The Ghana Education Service (GES) has dismissed claims by former Minister for Education, Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum, suggesting that the performance of candidates in the 2025 WASSCE was influenced by “unsupportive management practices” at the Service.
In a statement issued on 1 December, GES said the claims made by Dr Adutwum during media engagements were “misleading and an attempt to shift focus.”
“It is not true that the GES has cancelled any allowances due teachers,” the statement stressed, noting that the Controller and Accountant-General’s Department had already clarified the reason for the non-payment of November allowances.
GES urged the public to disregard the former Minister’s comments, describing them as “an attempt to shift focus from his shortcomings in managing the examination process.”
The Service maintains that the 2025 WASSCE results accurately reflect the academic performance of candidates. According to the statement, “The outcome is a credible representation of students’ abilities.”
GES reiterated its stance on maintaining the integrity of examinations, emphasising the rigorous invigilation and supervision that characterised the 2025 WASSCE.
