President John Mahama has underscored discipline and professionalism as the backbone of a strong and responsive Ghana Armed Forces, insisting that these values are essential to confronting emerging and existing security threats.
Addressing cadets at the 2026 graduation ceremony of the Ghana Armed Forces, the President charged the newly commissioned officers to uphold integrity, discipline, and professionalism in the discharge of their duties, describing these principles as non-negotiable in safeguarding national security.
He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to improving the welfare and operational capacity of the Armed Forces, noting that long-standing concerns, such as gratuities, are receiving attention.
President Mahama also announced plans to significantly boost military infrastructure and logistics, including the acquisition of a helicopter, the construction of a sports complex, and the provision of 10,000 housing units over the next five years.
Touching on broader national challenges, the President called on all Ghanaians to support the fight against illegal mining, stressing that national development and security are intertwined.
He urged the Armed Forces to continue serving the country with professionalism, integrity, and respect for the civilian population.
The ceremony was attended by the Minister for the Interior, Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, Acting Defence Minister Ato Forson, senior security officials, government representatives, and members of the public.
