In a bid to boost efficiency in Ghana’s cocoa sector, Dr Wisdom Kofi Dogbey, Managing Director of the Cocoa Marketing Company (CMC), recently conducted a comprehensive assessment of operations at several cocoa takeover centres.
The visit aimed to evaluate the company’s performance during the current cocoa season and its readiness to implement a 24-hour operational model, in line with President John Mahama’s vision for round-the-clock operations across key economic sectors.
During the tour, Dr Dogbey engaged directly with staff, acknowledging their dedication to ensuring that Ghana’s premium cocoa is stored and handled with care.

The discussions provided critical insights into operational challenges and successes, underscoring the importance of collaboration and staff motivation in achieving excellence.
“This visit was crucial for understanding our operational performance and identifying areas for improvement,” the MD said.
“I am inspired by the enthusiasm and commitment of our team, who share a deep passion for elevating Ghana’s cocoa industry.”

Dr. Dogbey confirmed that CMC is prepared to roll out a 24-hour operating model, which will transform warehouse, port, and shipping operations.
The initiative aims to enhance efficiency, reduce turnaround times, and improve service delivery across the cocoa value chain.
“The 24-hour model will improve the handling and storage of cocoa, preserving the quality and integrity of our beans. It will also strengthen inventory management, reduce losses during peak seasons, and enable us to respond more effectively to global market demands,” he explained.
The initiative also aligns with CMC’s commitment to supporting cocoa farmers. Streamlined operations will ensure timely payments through Licensed Buying Companies (LBCs) and reinforce the sustainability of cocoa farming in the country.
Reflecting on the sector’s prospects, Dr. Dogbey expressed optimism: “With initiatives like the 24-hour operations and ongoing efforts to enhance local processing of cocoa beans, Ghana is well-positioned to meet growing global demand and maintain its leadership in the cocoa industry.”
As CMC embarks on this new chapter, the MD reaffirmed the company’s dedication to working with stakeholders and partners to drive growth and innovation, ensuring Ghanaian cocoa remains recognised for its exceptional quality and value.
The visit highlights CMC’s proactive approach to operational excellence and its readiness to embrace new opportunities in the cocoa sector.
