The Presidency has announced that the Children’s Support Fund, established to cater for the welfare of children of victims of the August 6 helicopter crash, has so far accrued GH¢2.315 million.
The fund, launched by President John Mahama on August 15, is aimed at guaranteeing long-term support for dependents of those who lost their lives in the tragic accident.

An initial GH¢500,000 seed donation was made by Stanbic Bank Ghana, with additional contributions from several corporate entities, including Procus GH Limited, GB Foods Ghana, Sunda FM Manufacturing Ltd, Sage Distribution Ltd, Quantum Oil Terminals, Quantum LPG Logistics Ltd, Newgas Cylinder Ltd, and Quantum Terminals PLC.
Dr. Valerie Sawyerr, Senior Presidential Advisor on Governmental Affairs and Coordinator of the Fund, explained that donations can be made through designated Stanbic Bank Ghana accounts in both cedis and dollars. She added that a list of donors will be published weekly to ensure transparency.
The initiative follows the August 6 helicopter crash that claimed multiple lives, including two cabinet ministers.
According to the Presidency, the fund will be used to provide consistent financial and welfare support for the children left behind.
