Chief Content Officer at Olympic Channel Services (International Olympic Committee), Benny Bonsu, has been honoured as one of the 50 Most Influential African Women in Sport for the year 2025.
The recognition was conferred by the Africa Sports Ventures Group (ASVG) in partnership with the Women Sport Africa Network (WSAN).
The accolade places Benny Bonsu among a distinguished league of women who are driving transformation across the continent’s sporting landscape, from administration and governance to media, athlete development, and global advocacy.
Benny, a leading voice in sports media and content innovation globally, described the honour as “truly humbling,” emphasising that the achievement reflects the collective effort of women whose courage and leadership continue to shape the story of African sport.
“This recognition is for every woman using her voice, courage, and passion to make a difference in sport,” she noted.
“To stand alongside so many phenomenal women who lead and inspire across Africa and the diaspora is a privilege.”
Her inclusion highlights her influential role at the Olympic Channel Service and the International Olympic Committee, where she oversees global sports storytelling, champions inclusion, and advocates for increased representation of African narratives in the global sports ecosystem.
The 2025 list also features several globally recognised sports leaders, including IOC President Kirsty Coventry, former FIFA Secretary General Fatma Samoura, Rwanda’s Sports Minister Nelly Mukazayire, multiple world record–holding athlete Faith Kipyegon, and Confederation of African Volleyball President Bouchra Hajij, reflecting the diverse leadership shaping Africa’s sports future.
Benny’s recognition adds to her growing list of achievements as one of the continent’s most dynamic champions for women in sport.
Through her work, she continues to elevate African voices, mentor young talent, and push for equitable opportunities across global sporting institutions.
The 50 Most Influential African Women in Sport list celebrates individuals whose work continues to accelerate progress, inspire generations, and redefine the standards of sport leadership both within Africa and around the world.
