The Member of Parliament-elect for the Ayawaso East Constituency, Baba Jamal, is expected to be sworn into office on Tuesday, March 10.
The ceremony will be conducted by the Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, in Parliament.
Mr Jamal won the parliamentary seat in the by-election held on Tuesday, March 3, securing victory for the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC).
His election followed a competitive race involving candidates from several political parties and an independent contender.
In a Facebook post on Monday, March 9, announcing the upcoming swearing-in ceremony, Mr Jamal expressed gratitude to constituents for the opportunity to represent them in Parliament.
“Indeed, Allah’s ways are perfect. I am deeply humbled by the opportunity to serve, and I look forward to working together with you to build a brighter and greater future for the Ayawaso East Constituency,” he said.
According to the official results of the by-election, Mr Jamal secured 10,884 votes, defeating his main challenger, Yusif Ali Baba of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), who obtained 4,009 votes.
Other candidates who contested the seat included independent candidate Mohammed Umar Sanda, who polled 1,885 votes. Meanwhile, Ibrahim Idrissu secured 43 votes, while Kanor David obtained 104 votes.
