Filmmaker and musician Nicholas Tetteh Nartey, better known as Big Ghun, is celebrating a double milestone this weekend.
Just a day before the highly anticipated premiere of his debut feature, ‘Vibes the Movie,’ the multi-talented creative graduated with a master’s degree in Brands and Communications Management from the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA).
On Friday, October 3, Big Ghun shared the news on social media.
The achievement adds to his growing list of accolades and reflects the delicate balance he has managed between rigorous academic work and the demanding world of entertainment.
He now joins a notable list of Ghanaian entertainers, including Becca, DJ Mensah, and Multimedia’s Doreen Avio, who have also completed the same postgraduate program at UPSA.
For Big Ghun, the degree is not only a personal triumph but also a strategic tool to refine his career decisions and brand direction.
The timing couldn’t be more symbolic.
On Saturday, October 4, ‘Vibes the Movie’ will premiere simultaneously at Silverbird Cinemas in Accra Mall and West Hills Mall.
The film is an ambitious leap from the viral ‘Vibes’ social media series, which combined rap, comedy, and everyday storytelling to capture the realities of Ghanaian youth.
Within a year, the series had amassed over 10 million views and featured several influential guest appearances.
‘Vibes the Movie’ stars an impressive cast, including Clemento Suarez, Aaron Adatsi, Feli Nuna, Giovani Caleb, and Godwin Namboh.
With Big Ghun at the helm as director and producer, the film is expected to replicate the wit, relatability, and cultural resonance that made the series a national sensation.
Outside of filmmaking, Big Ghun is also a musician, entrepreneur, and managing director of PB Studios Africa Company Limited, a production hub specialising in commercials, TV shows, movies, documentaries, and animations.
His earlier work, ‘Leaked’ (2013), which he co-directed, won the MultiChoice Talent Factory award at the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards, cementing his place as a creative force.
Projecting himself with the persona of “Small Boy Sugar Daddy”, Big Ghun continues to carve a unique path in Ghana’s entertainment industry.
With a master’s degree in hand and a major film premiere on the horizon, he is poised to take his brand and artistry to the next level.
