The government has reviewed the curfew hours for Sawla-Tuna-Kalba Township and its surrounding communities in the Savannah Region.
The Minister for the Interior, Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, announced that the new curfew will run from 12:00 midnight to 5:00 a.m., effective Wednesday, September 24, 2025.
According to the minister, the decision followed advice from the Regional Security Council and was taken to help maintain law and order in the area.
He explained, “Government continues to urge Chiefs, Opinion Leaders, Youth, and People of the area to exercise restraint in the face of the challenges confronting them and to use non-violent means to channel their energies into ensuring peace in the area.”
As part of the restrictions, residents have been reminded of three key measures to observe during the period: A total ban on carrying firearms, ammunition, or offensive weapons.
Anyone found breaching this order will be arrested and prosecuted. No two or more persons should be seen riding on a motorbike throughout the day, and the wearing of war regalia is prohibited at all times.
The curfew review also applies to Bole Township and its environs, also in the Savannah Region. The new curfew hours there are the same: 12:00 midnight to 5:00 a.m., effective Wednesday, September 24.
The restrictions on firearms, motorbike use, and wearing of war regalia equally apply to residents of Bole.
