National Chairman of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketia, has called for restraint in the delivery of prophecies following last Wednesday’s helicopter crash, which claimed eight lives.
Speaking at the Muslim funeral rites of the late Alhaji Mohammed Muniru, one of the victims, Mr. Nketia reminded the public that nothing happens without the knowledge of the Supreme Being, whether referred to as God or Allah.
“I want to urge everybody to gather courage. Since this tragic event, we have heard a lot of people talking about how they prophesied it was going to happen, but I believe as a Christian, and I believe it is so with Muslims, that nothing happens at the blind side of Allah,” he said.
He cautioned against burdening President John Dramani Mahama with further prophecies about the incident, urging those making such declarations to allow the will of God to prevail.
“And so those who are already prophesying about more calamity, let us continue praying to Allah that His will be done, and let us encourage our government leadership, particularly President John Dramani Mahama, that he should not be daunted by whatever prophecies are coming out, because we know that nothing happens on the blind side of Allah,” he added.
Mr Nketia stressed that the deaths should not be used to weaken the government, but rather serve as a turning point to reset the nation, address societal ills, and foster unity.
