Mets prospect Jett Williams lifts two homers, Jonathan Santucci strong in Double-A debut

Mets prospect Jett Williams enjoyed himself a big night at the plate down in Double-A on Friday.

The 21-year-old infielder led off the bottom of the first crushing a homer over the left-center field fence to give Binghamton the early lead.

He left the yard again two innings later, lifting another solo shot to dead-center to give him eight on the season and make it a 2-0 ballgame.

After popping out in the fourth, Williams was able to do more damage his next time up, driving in another run with an RBI single. He swiped his 25th bag of the season a few pitches later, but ended up being stranded in scoring position.

The youngster struck out in the eighth, but still finished the night 3-for-5 with three RBI and two runs scored as he put together his second multi-homer game of the season.

Williams wasn’t the only Rumble Ponies slugger to enjoy a strong showing, as catcher Kevin Parada also had three knocks on the night including an RBI double down the left-field line.

Parada has been spectacular of late after an extremely slow start to the season.

On the mound, Jonathan Santucci looked very strong as he earned the win in his Double-A debut.

The southpaw got off to a perfect start — retiring the first 13 batters he faced before issuing a five-pitch walk with one out in the top of the fifth.

Altoona made him pay just a few batters later, as back-to-back singles and a sacrifice fly put two runs on the board.

Santucci bounced back to end his night with a perfect top of the sixth — closing his final line with just the two runs allowed on two hits and a walk while striking out eight.

The former second-round pick had pitched to a 1.35 ERA over his last nine appearances with High-A Brooklyn prior to his promotion.
