The Chancellor of Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has called on all stakeholders to ensure the timely completion of the first phase of the university’s long-stalled teaching hospital, following Parliament’s recent approval of its budgetary allocation.
The Asantehene made the appeal during the 59th Special Congregation ceremony at the university. He began by expressing deep gratitude to both Parliament and the government for their commitment to the project, which he described as a major national investment with far-reaching implications for education, healthcare, and development.
The hospital, once operational, is expected to function as a hub for advanced medical training and research, while also providing essential healthcare services to surrounding communities and the nation at large.
Otumfuo emphasized that adhering to the original construction timeline is critical to ensuring the facility begins serving its purpose without unnecessary delays.
“While we are grateful for the progress made thus far, we respectfully appeal that the timeline for the completion of the university hospital be adhered to as originally scheduled,” he stated.
In a clear message to executing agencies and contractors, the Chancellor added, “I will be waiting on the president to commission the first phase of the project by the close of the year.”
