The Minister for Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, says the government is willing to review cases of public-sector workers who may have been unfairly dismissed following the change of administration in January 2025.
His comments come after the Minority in Parliament criticised the dismissal of more than 1,500 public-sector employees, describing the terminations as arbitrary and harmful to young people seeking employment.
Speaking on Newsfile on JoyNews on Saturday, March 7, Mr Kwakye Ofosu said the government would consider appeals from individuals who believe they were wrongfully affected by the dismissals.
According to him, individuals whose appointments were made before the December 7 elections but who have not received communication from their respective institutions should formally bring their cases to the government’s attention for review.
“Let me also indicate that if there is anybody like that who suffered unfairly and who believes that their appointment predated December 7 and has not heard from the institutions, they can bring it to the attention of government and we will look at it,” he said.
Mr Kwakye Ofosu, however, indicated that the government is prepared to address legitimate grievances where evidence shows that individuals were treated unfairly.
He emphasised that the administration remains open to examining specific cases brought forward by affected persons.
According to him, any worker who believes their dismissal did not follow the stated guidelines should formally notify the appropriate authorities for consideration.
