The President of Rotary International, Francesco Arezzo, is visiting Ghana to inspect and commission key development projects, while reaffirming Rotary’s commitment to supporting the country’s growth.
As part of his visit, Mr Arezzo, together with officials of Rotary Club Ghana, travelled to Brofoyedu in the Ashanti Region to commission a 12-seater toilet facility and a mechanised borehole for the Brofoyedu M/A School and the surrounding community.
The projects are aimed at improving sanitation and providing access to clean and potable water.
Addressing a gathering at the commissioning ceremony, Mr Arezzo emphasized Rotary International’s dedication to sustainable development.
He noted that collaboration between Rotary and local communities remains vital to the successful execution of projects.
“If we attempt to work alone without the support of the community, our efforts will have little impact. It is important that we move forward together to achieve meaningful development,” he stated.
He further assured that Rotary International will continue to support its local branches in Ghana to promote sustainable development initiatives across the country.
District Governor of Rotary Club Ghana, Nana Yaa Pokuaa Sereboɔ, reiterated the organization’s commitment to its social responsibility, particularly in rural communities. She urged beneficiaries to maintain the newly commissioned facilities to ensure their long-term use.
“Today, we have commissioned a toilet facility and a mechanised borehole for the Brofoyedu community and school. We encourage the community to cultivate a strong maintenance culture to preserve these facilities for future generations,” she said.
She also disclosed that the school has presented additional challenges to the Rotary Club, and efforts are underway to mobilize support to address them.
The Headmistress of Brofoyedu M/A JHS, Mrs. Patience Acquah, expressed gratitude to Rotary International for the timely intervention. She said the facilities would significantly improve sanitation in the school and enhance access to potable water for both students and residents.
According to her, the school and community are committed to maintaining the projects to ensure they serve their intended purpose effectively.
