I have taken note of the public commentary and institutional concerns arising from my recent statement on the proposed renaming of Kotoka International Airport.
I wish to unequivocally clarify that the views expressed in that statement were entirely personal and do not represent the position of the National Development Planning
Commission (NDPC), either individually or collectively.
Accordingly, I take full personal responsibility for the statement and for any perceptionthat it may have conveyed an institutional position beyond my individual capacity.
My intervention was motivated solely by concern over the public reaction and process-related anxieties that had already become evident among sections of Parliament, civil society, professional groups, and the Diaspora. It was never intended to undermine the authority of the Government, the cohesion of the governing party, or the integrity of state institutions.
I wish to reaffirm my deep respect for the authority of His Excellency the President, the Cabinet, and the Government’s collective decision-making processes. I also reaffirm my commitment to serving the Republic strictly within the bounds of the law, institutional discipline, and democratic propriety.
Where issues of national sensitivity arise, the appropriate course remains quiet counsel and formal advice through established presidential channels. In my capacity as a Commissioner of the National Development Planning Commission, I will engage with Government strictly through the institutional advisory mechanisms and channels available to me, rather than through public engagement. I accept that, in this instance, my communication should have been more carefully framed to avoid any unintended institutional interpretation.
From now on, I remain fully committed to: Upholding the neutrality and statutory role of the NDPC; Providing constructive, evidence-based advice to the President through appropriate
channels; and Supporting Government efforts to preserve public confidence, social harmony, and democratic stability.
I trust that this clarification will be received in the spirit in which it is offered, grounded in responsibility, respect, and recommitment to institutional order.
