East Airport International School (EAIS) won the 2026 International Schools Sports Association of Ghana (ISSAG) boys’ basketball championship, while The Roman Ridge School (TRRS) clinched the girls’ title on Saturday, 31 January 2026.
In the boys’ final, EAIS secured a 24–17 victory over SOS-Hermann Gmeiner International College (SOS-HGIC), controlling the game from start to finish—its first-ever ISSAG boys’ basketball title.
Their championship run was powered by tournament Most Valuable Player (MVP) Star Poku-Asante, whose strong performances, alongside those of his twin brother, Sunny Poku-Asante, and Keifa Agyeman Badu, proved decisive.
The trio led EAIS past Angels Specialist School International (ASSI) in the quarter-finals and Ghana Christian International High School (GCIHS) in the semi-finals on the road to the title.
Earlier, GCIHS claimed the bronze medal in the boys’ competition after edging The Roman Ridge School 20–18 in a closely contested third-place play-off.
In the girls’ division, The Roman Ridge School delivered a commanding performance to lift the championship, defeating Akosombo International School (AIS) 19–2 in the final. That victory was inspired by a standout display from Petra Adjei Kumi, who was later named Girls’ Division MVP.
TRRS announced their intentions early with a 30–0 quarter-final win over International Community School (ICS), followed by an 11–6 victory against GCIHS in the semi-finals.
After that game, TRRS captain Adjei Kumi highlighted the team’s mental strength as the key to success.
She said: “We are going to win it [the tournament]. I have realised that when you play in ISSAG, for our team it’s all about the mental strength. We don’t have the capability and skills to win every competition that we’ve played.
“We’re always held back by the mindset that these girls are bigger, have won all their matches and all that, but we are here with a new mindset, a new team, playing for everybody to see what a real basketball team is.”
In the girls’ third-place play-off, GCIHS secured the bronze medal with a 17–5 win over Alpha-Beta Educational Center (ABEC).
