The Member of Parliament for Kpandai, Mr Matthew Nyindam, has expressed profound gratitude to God, the Supreme Court, and the people of Kpandai following a landmark ruling that restored his parliamentary seat.
The Supreme Court, by a 4–1 majority, quashed a High Court judgment that had annulled his election on the ticket of the New Patriotic Party (NPP). Justice Gabriel Scott Pwamang dissented from the majority decision.
The apex court’s ruling followed an application filed by Mr Nyindam, invoking the Supreme Court’s supervisory jurisdiction to challenge the High Court’s decision on grounds of jurisdictional error. The court found that the High Court acted without the requisite jurisdiction in annulling the parliamentary election, effectively restoring Mr Nyindam as the duly elected MP for Kpandai.
Speaking after the judgment, Mr Nyindam described the ruling as a victory for democracy and the will of the electorate.
“I want to thank God for what He has done in my life, and also to thank my lawyers,” he said.
“I also want to use this opportunity to thank the Supreme Court judges for the ruling. It is clear that there were attempts to change the will of the people of Kpandai, but the Supreme Court has affirmed that will, and I am most grateful.”

Mr Nyindam also extended his appreciation to the NPP for its support at all levels, from national leadership through regional structures to constituency executives, as well as to the people of Kpandai for their steadfast confidence in him.
“I am sure that if you are in Kpandai today, you will see the joy of the people,” he noted. “They voted for me and expected me to serve them for the full four-year term, and I remain committed to serving them diligently.”
He further paid tribute to former Vice-President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia for the encouragement and support he offered throughout the legal challenge.
