The IGP Special Operations Team has served up a side of justice, arresting three suspects, including a notorious drug peddler, for possession and peddling of suspected Indian hemp.
The heat was on in Tamale and Yendi as the team conducted an intensive patrol, snatching up Rahman Simani, Mohammed Ibrahim, and Kasim Abdul Fataw with various quantities of the illicit substance.
According to the police, Fataw, a well-known player in the drug scene, admitted to his involvement but claimed he had cooled off due to the police heat.
“He was nevertheless arrested to assist police with further investigations,” said DSP Bawah Abdul Jalil, a member of the IGP Special Operations Team.
These operations have boosted police visibility, disrupted suspected criminal networks, and left residents feeling confident about the Ghana Police Service.
“The swift actions of the team reinforced public confidence in the Ghana Police Service’s ability to maintain law and order and respond effectively to security threats,” DSP Jalil noted.
The suspects are in custody at the Sakasaka Police Station, awaiting further investigations and possible prosecution.
The operation is part of ongoing efforts to identify and dismantle criminal networks in the region.
