The Government of Ghana has lifted the curfew imposed on the Sawla-Tuna-Kalba Township and its surrounding communities in the Savannah Region.
The Ministry of the Interior imposed a curfew on Bole Township and its surrounding communities in the Savannah Region on Wednesday, August 27, following renewed chieftaincy tensions that have raised security concerns in the area.
The announcement was made by the Minister for the Interior following advice from the Savannah Regional Security Council (REGSEC) and the issuance of an Executive Instrument authorising the immediate removal of the restriction.
The curfew, which had been in place due to security concerns in the area, has been withdrawn after authorities reported a significant improvement in peace and stability across the township and its environs.
Security assessments indicated a reduction in tensions, allowing normal activities to resume without heightened risk.
Despite the improved situation, the government has urged residents including Chiefs, Opinion Leaders, youth groups, and the general public to continue exercising restraint amid ongoing challenges.
The Ministry emphasised the need for community members to channel grievances and concerns through peaceful and lawful means.
“Government continues to urge Chiefs, Opinion Leaders, Youth, and People of the area to exercise restraint in the face of the challenges confronting them and to use non-violent means to channel their energies into ensuring peace in the area,” the statement read.
