The Exclusive Men of the Year (EMY) Africa Awards 2025 concluded its 10th-anniversary edition last night, Saturday, November 22nd, with a prestigious ceremony that celebrated the pinnacle of African achievement across business, the arts, sports, and public service.
The event, themed “Celebrating the Legacy”, recognised over 20 distinguished men and women whose work has inspired greatness across the continent and the diaspora.
The EMY Africa Awards 2025 was held at the Accra International Conference Centre (AICC), with a host of personalities picking up coveted honours.
The EMY Africa Awards recognise distinguished men and influential women whose achievements inspire progress in various sectors, including business, culture, sports, public service, and the creative industries.
Since its inception in 2016, the EMY Africa Awards has grown to become one of the continent’s most prestigious ceremonies.
The EMY Africa Awards features competitive categories where winners are determined by a combination of a jury of eminent professionals and public/peer voting, emphasising widespread recognition.
The majority of the EMY Africa Awards are honorary, selected by the distinguished EMY Africa Faculty for consistent impact and pioneering work.
The 2025 EMY Africa Awards marked a milestone, transforming the event into a massive networking and cultural platform.
The Ultimate Man of the Year title was deservedly awarded to Ghanaian corporate statesman Sir Sam Jonah, whose career in mining and exemplary corporate governance set the tone for the evening’s focus on integrity and transformative impact.
Other winners include Ghanaian entrepreneur Dr Osei Kwame Despite, French former professional footballer of Ghanaian descent Marcel Desailly, founder of Bills and Quick Angels Limited Richard Nii Armah Quaye, Ghanaian music star Gregory Bortey Newman (King Promise), South African actor and TV show host Thapelo Mokoena, former Black Stars skipper and football manager Tony Baffour, renowned cinematographer Rev. Dr. Chris Hesse and CEO of COA Healthcare Centre Dr Samuel Ato Duncan.
