The family of the late former First Lady, Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings, has formally announced that her final funeral rites will be held on Friday, 28th November 2025, at the Independence Square in Accra.
In a statement delivered on behalf of the family, Oheneba Akwasi Abayie, Otumfuo Akomforehene, confirmed that the funeral proceedings will commence at 6 am with the arrival of the cortege at the ceremonial grounds.
“The funeral activities will start at 6 am with the arrival of the cortege at the Independence Square, Accra,” the family noted in a Facebook post.
The family expressed deep appreciation to the public for the support and sympathy shown since her passing.
Mourners have been advised that the attire for the ceremony is strictly black, with the family clarifying that no official funeral cloth has been designed for the occasion. “Attire for the funeral is Black, and there will be no official clothes for the ceremony.”
The funeral is open to the general public, and all attendees are encouraged to participate fully. Security and protocol teams will be on hand to guide guests to their designated seating areas.
The family stressed that the Independence Square service constitutes the final funeral rites, with no additional ceremonies to be held elsewhere after the burial service concludes.
They further appealed to mourners to arrive early and comply with security directives to ensure a dignified and orderly process befitting the memory of the former First Lady.
“We urge mourners to come in early and adhere strictly to the directives of the security and protocol team so we can have an orderly process at the burial ceremony,” the bereaved family noted.
