Chief Justice nominee, Justice Paul Baffoe-Bonnie, has affirmed his unwavering integrity and commitment to the principles of justice and fairness, emphasising that his 33-year service in the Judiciary stands as proof of his character and dedication.
He made this known during his vetting by Parliament’s Appointments Committee on Monday, November 10.
Justice Baffoe-Bonnie told the Committee that integrity has been the cornerstone of his judicial career and personal life.
“I have integrity, and everything I have done shows,” he stated confidently. “From the day I joined the Judiciary 33 years ago, I have lived by the oath I swore — to do right to all manner of persons without fear or favour, affection or ill will.”
The Supreme Court judge further noted that his long years of service, including his time on the highest court of the land, had tested but ultimately reinforced his commitment to impartiality and the rule of law.
Justice Baffoe-Bonnie assured the committee that if approved as Chief Justice, he would continue to uphold judicial independence and promote public confidence in the courts.
“My goal is to strengthen the integrity of the institution I have served for over three decades. The Judiciary must remain a beacon of justice and a guardian of our democracy,” he affirmed.
