Ghana’s Black Princesses faced a setback in their 2025 WAFU B U20 Girls’ Cup campaign on Saturday, November 8, against Nigeria.
The Black Princesses were handed a 3-1 defeat by their rivals in their second game of the tournament.
Head coach Charles Sampson made two changes to the starting lineup that beat Benin in the opening game, with starts for Rubby Osei and Sarah Nyarko
Nigeria, who were only playing their first game in the competition, scored twice in quick succession before the first half ended.
After the break, Sarah Nyarko halved the deficit for the Princesses, scoring from a rebound after Diana Amoako’s long-range strike came off the crossbar.
However, the Nigerians restored their two-goal lead deep into the second half, going on to claim a 3-1 win over Ghana.
For the Black Princesses, it was their second game of the tournament, having faced off with Benin in the opening game of the tournament on Friday morning.
Ghana’s next game is against Benin on Monday, November 10, before facing off with Nigeria in their final game on November 11.
