The 2025 edition of the Republic Bank – Luv FM Habitat Fair has officially been launched in the studios of Luv FM with exciting promises of good offers for prospective homeowners.
The fair will bring together key players in Ghana’s real estate and housing sector to showcase products and services that support affordable homeownership.
Speaking at the launch, Head of Mortgage Banking at Republic Bank, Dan Adjetey Morhenu, explained the purpose of mortgage financing as providing funding to acquire a home.
He said the bank assesses applicants based on income, age, and repayment record, even with other banks.

“Much as we want to give anyone a loan, it’s important for us to really identify the people who have the capacity to pay and that’s what by we go on doing the assessment,” he said.
Mr. Morhenu praised the partnership between Republic Bank and Luv FM, highlighting an instance where a 57-year-old man was assisted through a joint account with his 31-year-old working son after visiting their stands at the fair.
“Even if a person is left with 2 years to go on pension, we can extend a hand of help,” he noted, describing the collaboration as fruitful.
A legal practitioner specializing in real estate and land law, Kwaku Obeng Mireku, emphasized that land acquisition has been made simple for those who follow the rules.

He cautioned buyers to verify land ownership and zoning before purchase.
“If a land is zoned for a school and an individual uses it for a home, the law doesn’t permit that,” he said, adding that the cost of changing such land use is high.
Prof. Divine Ahadzie of the Centre for Settlement Studies at KNUST commended Multimedia for being “the face of housing in Ghana.”
He encouraged the use of alternative materials like wood and bricks, stressing that some wooden buildings at KNUST built in the 1970s are still strong.
“When it comes to wood, we look at the light weight which you benefit from when you put it on a structure,” he said, adding that “fire risks depend on the type and treatment of the wood”.
The 2025 Habitat Fair is themed: “Financing Your Dream Home, Inclusive, Sustainable and Affordable Living for All.”
