The widow of Samuel Aboagye says she will carry his love with her for the rest of her life, holding on to the final words he spoke to her just hours before the tragic August 6 helicopter crash: “Take care, babe. I love you.”
Paying tribute to her late husband at the State burial for the eight victims, she described her late husband as “my partner, my safe place, my joy, and my best friend.” She said their years together were filled with laughter, devotion, and unshakable love.
“From the moment you entered my life, you gave me more than I ever imagined: unwavering love, joy, protection, and the beautiful honour of becoming your wife. You gifted me our precious daughters, living testaments of the bond we built,” she said.
She recalled how he excelled in his career while remaining grounded and compassionate. “Your strength carried us through challenges that could have broken us. But we always found our way back because we chose each other, over and over again.”
One of her most treasured memories, she said, was a birthday message he had written earlier this year: “Happy Birthday, my love! You are not only my wife but also my best friend and the greatest blessing in my life. I thank God every day for you, and I look forward to creating more beautiful memories together.”
With tears, she added, “This month, I was counting down the days until I would see you again in Atlanta, Georgia. Now, instead of being in your arms, I am here mourning you.”
“Samuel Aboagye, my dear husband, rest well!! Rest peacefully in the bosom of the Lord!!”
