From the bustling streets of Accra to the innovation corridors of North America, Seth Afari-Boateng has emerged as a global leader in engineering. His trajectory, from data enumerator to regional engineering leader, illustrates not only professional excellence but also a vision for sustainable industrial transformation.
Seth’s story began in Accra, Ghana, where his first professional steps in data collection taught him precision and problem-solving. At PwC Ghana, he refined his analytical and business acumen, mastering the interplay between regulatory systems and organisational growth. His exceptional performance earned him a prestigious scholarship to pursue a Structured Master’s degree in Mathematical Sciences at the African Institute for Mathematical Sciences (AIMS), one of Africa’s premier centres of excellence in quantitative research and innovation.
At AIMS, Seth deepened his expertise in data analytics, programming, and mathematical modelling, expanding his technical foundation for high-impact engineering solutions. His academic achievements led to his selection for the joint AIMS–ESMT Berlin Industry Immersion Program in 2018, where he gained hands-on experience applying advanced data science to solve real-world business challenges. This program marked the pivotal transition between his academic training and his industrial leadership journey.
Shortly afterwards, Seth joined Thyssenkrupp Industrial Solutions in Johannesburg as a Strategy, Markets & Development Intern, where he applied his analytical and technical skills to identify engineering partnership opportunities across Africa. His insights fuelled new market strategies and long-term collaborations that supported thyssenkrupp’s regional growth in Africa.
Within a short period, Seth’s results-driven impact earned him a promotion to lead spare parts sales and branch administration for West Africa, where he significantly expanded client engagement and improved operational efficiency. His success propelled him to be the Regional Manager for Sub-Saharan Africa for thyssenkrupp Polysius, overseeing technical services for dozens of industrial sites and driving regional innovation initiatives.
Beyond the boardroom, Seth is shaping the future of young talent. As a mentor and judge for the Industry Immersion Africa (iiAfrica) program, he equips young STEM graduates with practical, market-driven skills. His influence has empowered many to transition successfully into high-impact industry roles.
