Former Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia was reported by the Global InfoAnalytics this week as having maintained a national lead in its latest survey on the New Patriotic Party (NPP) primaries.
According to the poll, Dr. Bawumia was leading his other competitors in 14 out of 16 regions and was also ahead nationally with 42%, while Kennedy Agyapong was in second with 18% and as many as 34% of respondents were either undecided or unwilling to disclose their preference.
Nonetheless, one other key finding the Global InfoAnalytics latest survey reported was how Dr. Bawumia was totally favoured among the NPP’s core supporters, or die-hards.
Using what it called the committed voters’ model, Global InfoAnalytics reported that 63%, of committed NPP voters favoured Dr. Bawumia, while 29% of such voters were for Kennedy Agyapong.
Dr. Bryan Acheampong has 7% while Dr. Osei Yaw Adutwum had 1%, and Kwabena Agyapong had 0.
Committed Voters, as Global InfoAnalytics explained, “are delegates who have mentioned a candidate by name and committed to vote for that candidate.”
Reporting on the model, Global InfoAnalytics noted that it excluded the “undecided and those who don’t openly disclose their vote.”
Being extremely popular among committed voters comes as a huge boost to Dr. Bawumia, as committed voters model, in political surveys, represents hard-core supporters who will not change their mind and would even go a step further to influence votes for their preferred candidate.
