Former Asante Kotoko midfielder, Justice Blay, has publicly accused his ex-teammate Kwame Opoku of betraying his trust by secretly dating a woman he was in a relationship with.
In a candid revelation on Kumasi based Pure FM, Blay detailed the breakdown of their friendship, alleging that Opoku had been seeing his partner behind his back shortly after being introduced to her.
“I once introduced my girlfriend to Kwame Opoku because I considered him a close friend. A few weeks later, I started having issues with her. That’s when I discovered Opoku had been secretly seeing her behind my back,” Blay said.
According to him, the situation became suspicious when his partner began showing unusual knowledge about happenings within the team’s clubhouse.
“She suddenly seemed to know everything happening inside the team’s clubhouse—every move I made, she somehow already knew.”
Blay initially suspected a member of the club’s security team was leaking information but said the truth came out during a confrontation.
“At first, I suspected the security man was feeding her information. But after a confrontation, he admitted that it was actually Opoku who had been telling her everything. I reported the matter to Coach Prosper Ogum and the team manager.”
The incident, Blay revealed, strained his relationship with Opoku during their time in camp, although they tried to keep it from affecting their performance on the pitch.
“From that point on, things were never the same between me and Opoku in camp. While we made sure it didn’t affect our performance on the pitch, I knew I could never trust him again.”
Kwame Opoku rejoined Asante Kotoko in January 2025 after a three-year stint away from the club. Justice Blay, who signed for the Porcupine Warriors in 2022, was released by the club in June this year after being informed he would not be part of their plans for the upcoming season.
As of now, Kwame Opoku has not publicly responded to the allegations.
